Q. I am thinking of donating property to a local charity, but am unsure of its value. Is there a resource available that can help me value my donated property?

Donating Property to Charity--Tax Guide

If you are thinking property to a local charity, it is prudent to obtain an accurate value for tax purposes when donating property (e.g., furniture, computers, appliances, clothing). Having the accurate value enables you to take the proper deduction on your tax return.

We suggest you go to the Valuation Guide for Charitable Contributions at http://www.smbiz.com to obtain a free guide for determining a value to assign to your donation. This resource can save you time and money if the items you are donating don't justify a costly, professional appraisal.

For more information, contact your CPA. This information is to be used for informational purposes only. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of this information. You must do your own research to ensure accuracy.
