Jamezetta Bedford

Jamezetta R. Bedford, CPA joined William H. Bunch, CPA, PA in January, 2006. She graduated from the University of North Carolina Kenan Flagler Business School in May, 2004 with a Master of Accountancy. Focusing on tax, she excelled in tax research and financial statement analysis classes. During the MAC program Jamezetta was a research assistant for an accounting professor's project examining pharmaceutical start-ups. After graduation she served as Investment Trust Specialist at UNC Management Company, Inc. specializing in planned giving trusts and related assets administration. Jamezetta served as the direct liaison with the University's Planned Giving Office and the Accounting Services Office to coordinate and optimize services for beneficiaries and donors. Later, she also assumed financial reporting, budgeting, facilities, payroll and human resources responsibilities for the Management Company. She earned her CPA license in September, 2005. She is also a member of the AICPA and the NCACPA.

Jamezetta graduated with distinction from the University of Virginia in 1980 where she majored in mathematics as an Echols Scholar. She taught at Lexington High School for two years while her husband, Ed, finished law school at Washington & Lee University. They moved to Baltimore in 1982 where she worked as a pension analyst for several years. The first firm specialized in "boutique" defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans, individually designed and tailored for small and medium-sized private companies. The second firm, F&G Life Insurance Company, provided additional experience in prototype pension plans and extensive involvement with all types of life insurance, annuities and associated products. She progressed to senior pension analyst and helped develop the IRA department for the company. She says, "I hope to mesh my background in pension and retirement planning with my recent planned giving experience to assist clients with their long-term planning."

Jamezetta and her husband Ed along with their three children, Kevin, Shannon and Jim, moved to Chapel Hill in the fall of 1992 to benefit from the services available for their autistic daughter. Jamezetta has been an active volunteer and advocate for people with disabilities. She has been a member of the school district's Exceptional Children's Advisory Council for over a decade. She has served on the board of directors and president of the local chapter of the Autism Society of North Carolina. She is currently treasurer of the PATH Parent Group at the Murdoch Center. She also volunteered extensively in the district schools including as PTA president and was elected to the School Governance Committee at all three levels, serving as Co-Chair at each. She also worked for 5 years as a substitute teacher. She now serves on the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School Board.
