R.L. (Dick) Kearns, CPA
R. L. (Dick) Kearns, CPA has 35 years of experience in accounting and internal auditing, having obtained his original CPA certificate in 1971. Mr. Kearns worked in public accounting for approximately 15 years with both local and regional CPA firms. His public accounting experience ranged from supervising and training of various levels of staff accountants to tax preparation and planning for virtually all types of entities.
Mr. Kearns also owned and operated a successful temporary employment service for 5 years in the Martinsburg WV area. During the four years prior to joining William H. Bunch, CPA, PA; Dick was the Controller for various groups of convertible arbitrage and credit correlation hedge funds. Dick's passions in life include traveling with his wife Karen (they have been on over 20 cruises) and fishing (once a week whether the fish are biting or not). He also worked 10 years, initially as an internal auditor, and later as Director of Accounting for an agency of the US Navy (Military Sealift Command), where he had accounting responsibility for over $2 billion annually. During that time, Mr. Kearns was also a special assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff with responsibility for developing financial and budgeting systems to support special Navy projects. He was also on a team of individuals responsible for rewriting the Navy Comptroller's Manual.
